Summary

Presented by:
The Law & Medicine Section of The San Diego County Bar Association

The Supreme Court’s recent decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to overturn Roe v. Wade profoundly changes the national landscape of laws impacting abortion care. While the full effect of the decision remains unclear, health care providers navigating this uncertain environment face significant potential civil and criminal liability associated with providing abortion care. Webinar speakers will outline some of the most pressing legal issues for providers post-Dobbs, including the interactions between state laws and federal laws like EMTALA and HIPAA, possible civil and criminal liabilities under state abortion restrictions for CA providers providing services across state lines, and protective measures that have been enacted in both CA and at the federal level in an effort to preserve access to abortion care.
