Featuring California Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, Judge Margaret MeKeown of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and SDCBA President Tim Williams.

SDCBA Issues Evaluations For Judicial

The San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) announced its evaluations for eight candidates vying for five San Diego Superior Court judicial seats in the June 2, 2026 primary election. The SDCBA has conducted judicial candidate evaluations since 1978 as a public service, recognizing that limited information about judicial candidates is available for voters. The SDCBA’s evaluations are not endorsements and do not compare opposing candidates.

SDCBA Opposes Attempts by U.S. Department of Justice to Interfere in State Bar Disciplinary Proceedings

Individual state bar associations have long been tasked with licensure and regulation. There is no national regulatory arm for lawyers. Since 1927, the State Bar of California has been charged with the licensing and regulation of attorneys in the state. The State Bar’s long-established mechanism for investigating and disciplining attorneys is designed to protect the public interest.
