Summary

Presented by:
The Animal Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association

This is a hybrid CLE educational program for 1.0 Legal Ethics (Participatory) credit.

Ethically, responsibly, proactively advising is challenging and often the right thing to do. In going about this the right way, attorneys can make the most of our efforts on behalf of others, including our clients and non-human animals, as we uphold the noble standards of our profession.  Beginning with recounting a journey involving creating a meaningful life in animal law, the program illuminates ideas for attorneys to make an even greater difference in more effectively serving non-human animals and others and thereby making their own efforts more fulfilling and significant. The unique landscape of practicing animal law will be used to highlight the application of Rule 2.1, Advisor, using several real-world instances working through challenges and crises. In addition, the holistic Excellence Beyond Compliance® approach has broader applications for legal strategies in other regulated fields including healthcare, environmental and corporate law. Generalized, constructive good practices will also be provided.
